Naruto Shippuden Chapter 634 and episode 217 summaries

(A more detailed review of this week’s manga chapter)

Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke used their summoning technique as a solution for Sai's suggestion. Sakura summoned a giant slug Katsuyu which originally belonged to Tsunade. Sasuke summoned a giant snake Aoda which has appeared for the first time in the manga. Whilst Naruto is surprised as Gamakichi came in the place of his father Gamabunta.

Naruto then orders Gamakichi to get close to the Ten-Tails with one jump. While Sasuke orders Aoda to go straight ahead and he will take care the main body of the Ten-Tails himself. Katsuyu praises Sakura as she was finally able to activate Byakugou seal, and then receive the orders to split into many part and to attach herself to each person in the ninja alliance Seeing Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura, Hiruzen remembered his own student (The legendary Saanin).

Aoda starts to move nimbly on the ground, evading the attacks from the minions (Aoda is the complete opposite of Manda. He resembles an Anaconda). Gamakichi jumps into the air and is noticed by the Ten Tails minions. The Ten Tails clones start to throw their weapons as they had done for Sai. Gamakichi uses his sword to repel the attackers (and also gains praise from Naruto in the process). Sakura then starts to heal the shinobi alliance while Katsuyu attaches to them in the battlefield. Shizune acknowledges Sakura as she could already use Katsuyu’s remote healing even though she just activated Byakugou Seal.

Aoda and Sasuke are surrounded by the minions of the Ten Tails. Without any difficulties, Sasuke breaks in the blockade using his Susanoo and then uses blaze release and infuses it with his Susanoo's arrow aiming it at the Ten Tails. Naruto prepares a Rasengan in the air using his chakra arms. Naruto and Sasuke throw launch their weapons at the same time. The Rasenshuriken fuses with the Susanoo arrow, forming Swirling Gale of Light and Black Arrow. This successfully burns the Ten Tails down. These two Jutsu complement each other as Naruto's wind style Rasenshuriken strengthens Amaterasu greatly and as an added bonus it also spreads flames.

Elsewhere, Orochimaru, Suigetsu and Karin arrive at the place where Madara had finished the five Kages of. Orochimaru then comments on Tsunade's bad condition. (Sakura cries in this chapter this may be because Naruto and Sasuke are working together or this could be because she knows that Tsunade is dying as she could summon Katsuyu.

After escaping from the Shinobi Alliance, the reincarnated Torune finds a place far enough to execute one of his unique kinjutsu. However, Shino is able to find him with his kikaichū (the bugs that live in his body). Notified of Torune's motives, Shino starts a battle in order to stop Torune's kinjutsu (which uses the flesh off humans to reproduce his bugs). Once face to face with him, Torune asks if Shino made any friends, thinking back about their shared past. When they were little, Shibi was Torune's guardian after Shikuro died, Therefore Shino and Torune grew spent there childhood as siblings. Torune showed Shino the effects off his bugs on another living thing (pigeon in this case) and saved Shino from going to the Root by taking his place

 Torune explains that he never thought he would have met someone like Fu in Root. In the battle, Torune takes advantage from his taijutsu learned at Root, unleashing a accurate kick to Shino's stomach. Naruto's appears and saves Shino from falling into Torune's bug jar technique. Shino shares his knowledge of Torune's abilities, warning Naruto to not touch Torune's skin, as he would be affected by the poison and his cells would be destroyed. Torune uses his Poison Cloud Justu to attack them from a distance, but it is blocked by Shino's insects. (Torune doesn't want to fight Shino and we can see this as he struggles)

With the warning to not touch Torune's skin, Naruto starts fighting the reincarnated opponent, who tries to use kenjutsu against him, though Naruto succeeds in breaking his sword. Naruto manages to land a Rasengan, and Torune almost lands a punch on him, failing due to Shino putting himself in between them, taking the hit. Torune is confused that Shino isn't suffering the effects of his venomous insects, and Shino reveals that his punch hit Shino's insects, which Shino has bred with the insects that were feeding on the pigeon. This allowed them to build up a resistance against Torune's venom. Shino uses these insects to paralyse Torune, and applies a sealing tag, stopping him in his tracks. (Shino is glad he didn't go to Root as this meant he could make friends).
